Stag Walkers is a friendly and sociable walking group aimed at people in their 20s and 30s (and a bit beyond) which offers a variety of walks and social events in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire. We are run by a small number of volunteers.
Explore our beautiful countryside
We enjoy sharing the places we love to walk, and having fun while doing it. We have easy access to miles of footpaths, bridleways and other paths in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire, so there’s always a new place to explore.
All walks are led by members of the Group. Any member can volunteer to lead a walk; if you have not led before you could attend one of our informal training events or buddy up with a more experienced leader.
Make new friends
We are around 100 people in our 20s to early 40s who enjoy walking and socialising. Most of our walks end at a pub, or have a pub-stop in the middle. Our walks are a great way to get to know fellow members. You will see familiar faces and often meet new people each time you come.
We also have an active social scene, with events including pub nights, meals out, and other activities.
Get some exercise
Getting fit doesn’t have to be boring! Join us for a walk and improve your health while having fun. There’s something for everyone with leisurely walks from 5 miles, to moderate 8 or 9 milers, and even strenuous hikes of over 15 miles.
Try us for free
You are welcome to give us a go risk-free! Simply try out up to three walks within a three-month period before deciding whether to become a member. You are welcome to join any walk, just choose one that’s suitable for you. There’s no need to contact anyone beforehand unless stated in the walk description, just turn up. We look forward to meeting you on a walk soon.
Be part of something bigger
We are part of the Ramblers, Britain’s walking charity. Our group was formed in 2007 as North Herts Young Walkers, one of a network of Ramblers groups aimed at people in their 20s and 30s. In 2014 we relaunched the group as Stag Walkers, and broadened our area to Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
Who are the Ramblers?
Britain's walking charity working to create a Britain where everyone has the freedom to enjoy the outdoors on foot and to protect and expand the places people love to walk and promote walking for health and pleasure.
Together we are:
- the guardians of the footpath network
- the advocates of the right to roam
- the protectors of the countryside
- the champions of walking
- a healthy, friendly and fun group of outdoor-minded people of all ages
When you join Stag Walkers you become a member of The Ramblers. Your membership helps support the charity achieve its aims and gives you the opportunity to benefit from its work. Your membership also allows you to walk with any Ramblers group across England, Wales and Scotland. There are several young groups, like Stag Walkers, across Britain, so you can take your membership on holiday or if you move!
